Baltimore City Community College (Community ESL)
Ages served: 18+
Community ESL classes help students with limited language proficiency or low literacy skills develop their English proficiency, life skills, and career readiness. Classes provide instruction and practice in conversation, grammar, listening, reading, and writing in the context of both life and work skills. Community site classes are a result of partnerships with agencies throughout Baltimore City. The program serves immigrants and refugees. The Community ESL program provides the highest quality of instruction, consistently performing above the state average for successful academic completion of ESL programs in the state of Maryland.

Behavioral Health System Baltimore

The Identity Clinic seeks to assist reentering individuals in navigating the costly and cumbersome process of reclaiming their identity. A reentering citizen will be able to visit the clinic and obtain help with completing and processing the documents needed for a Maryland State Identification, Birth Certificate, and Social Security Card.

Learning is For Tomorrow

LIFT was created to respond to the needs of southeast Baltimore residents who want to improve their basic educational skills. Many adults struggle with daily skills, such as understanding job applications, helping their children with homework, reading a rental agreement, or obtaining a driver’s license. For others, improved skills are needed to keep a job or advance in the workplace. LIFT’s objective is to help adults overcome these barriers.
The Greater Baltimore Urban League was founded “To enable African Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights.” In keeping with it’s mission, GBUL, in partnership with the National Urban League, launched the Raymond V. Haysbert, Sr. Center for Entrepreneurship. The Haysbert Center brings high caliber business counseling and support services to the community level.
